Okay... probably going to get a few laughs here on this one... I am a Respiratory Therapist so you would think I could handle mostly anything in regards to the human body since I see A LOT in the hospital, and I can in general, blood does not bother me, I have seen people crushed, cut open, etc. I ABSOLUTELY am terrified and grossed out about anything to do with fingers or toes being smashed, cut, I just can't do it, I have an absolute aversion to this, I avoid looking at anything like this when it is with toes or fingers... I think it has to do with me having slammed my fingers in a car door and having it lock so I was stuck that way for like a minute while they got it opened when I was like 5 or 6. I broke a finger and some nails were busted but I healed... apparently on the outside better than on the inside cause I think I got permanently traumatized!
Xoun Kunai Phetchamphone - Mar 08
I have the a phobia of Snakes, Heights, Clowns & Clusters of Circles called, "Ophidiophobia". Don't quite know the medical terms for the others. But yeah... X_x Totally can't handle these.
Heather Hand - Mar 07
Actually it was a short story where Bones goes to New Orleans to help the Voodoo Queen (supposedly) & he had to kill zombies as well as avoid someone trying to kill him. That whole collection & especially Bones' book CREEPED me out. I now have trouble reading anything to do with voodoo. *shivers*
Mel - Mar 07
This is weird, not really gross or anything. I have a phobia of things that appear to weigh light but turn out to be heavy. I use to dream of super size q-tips and trying to lift them as if their dumbells but unable to, which eventually led me to be crushed under. So yeah... I think this classify as unrealistic phobia. That and ketchup. I won't touch the bottle, packets or anything with ketchup in it. :)
Erika Tsang - Mar 08
And our winner is RUTH GUTSCHER! Congratulations! Please send an email to avoneditor@gmail.com with your mailing address and I'll send along the ARC. Thanks to everyone who shared!

With kids and pets running around, there isn't too much that really grosses me out anymore. BUT some of the runny noses that kids come to school with really gross me out! Aack!!
Julia Taft - Mar 07
I would have to say snakes. Just thinking about snakes gives me shivers. I can’t watch snakes on TV, I can’t read about snakes in books. I have to skip that part.
Karri Bruskotter - Mar 07
Popping eyeballs. That is disgusting. Everything else is nature. ;)
Shannon Acas - Mar 08
I'm terrified of heights, and my boyfriend wants us to go skydiving for his birthday. He thinks it will help me get over my fear; however, I'm thinking it would be more likely to result in my having a heart attack similar to the one that is likely to result if I were to wake up and see a spider anywhere near me.
Doris E Gray - Mar 07
Sharks. They freak me out. That's why I can't go on a cruise because I'm terrified of somehow ending up in the water and a shark getting me *shivers*
Beverly DeeAnjello - Mar 08
After 4 kids and 4 dogs it takes something silly to gross me out. I can't stand the sight of my own blood, anyone else's is fine just not mine please,
Lori Mskitty - Mar 07
My phobia is bridges! Which is a little annoying since I live in Rhode Island! But........ I must tell you.... my biggest FEAR is that you will stop writing!!! Lol........ Sorry but it's true! You are my favorite author! xo
Kimberly Alguard - Mar 07
What grosses me out? The list is quite large, so I have to think a minute on that one! I know this sounds horrible, yes I know we are women, but still....there is nothing, and I mean nothing, that grosses me out more than seeing hair down there, when it is not attached to where it should be!! I had a friend staying with me, from out of town, and she had taken a bath earlier in the day. When I went into the bathroom, I found her P hair ALL OVER THE FLOOR! I mean, hello seriously? I had to give her a hard time about it, and still do to this day, telling her that she sheds worse than my Golden Retriever! UCK! It tells you how much it grossed me out, that to this day when I go in my bathroom I look at the floor just to make sure. I must be suffering from PTPH - Post Traumatic P Hair! ICKY! :()
Ruth Gutscher - Mar 07

Clowns. I have a very big fear of clowns ever since I watched the famous scary movie 'IT' by Stephen King. It does not matter what type of clown it is, Circus, Scary, Badly painted ect. I will either run from it, or close my eyes really tight, cover my ears and sing a song in my head till it goes away.
Surb Pate - Mar 07
I am really afraid of open water. The thought of being in the ocean makes me uncomfortable, and I refuse to take cruises or snorkel. Nothing about deep water appeals to me. *shudders*

Back in 2001,I was bit by a black widow spider while I slept and proceeded to almost die the next day..Ever since then I have had a terrible phobia of spiders..For the first few months after it happened I would freeze up and forget how to breathe for a moment!..It just gives me chill bumps to think of those eight little legs crawling over me...Uuuugghhh!..Nasty little creatures!
Renee' Winters - Mar 07
I work in a hospital and of all the creepy crawlly nasty things I see on a daily bases it would have to be lice. The worst part is the cleaner you are the more they like you. Lice hates dirty hair and loves clean hair. Some days i woulnt go in my house till my husband checks my hair. Just thinking about it makes me itchm
Barbara Mikel-Kuhl - Mar 07
Eating ..people's entrails or brains or yuck anything like that...makes me squeemish...JF almost got me with Rodney but she didn't get toooo graphic...but came close
Alana Bray Abrego - Mar 07
I am completely afraid of talking dolls. Me and my family adore Disneyland but I just can't go on It's a Small World because the dolls creep me out, and I think that It's a Small World is where this phobia got started because I remember my cousins telling me that they trapped little kids inside and me thinking it was for real! I won't watch Chuckie, I avoid the dolls in the stores. It's just weird to have a doll with it's glossy little eyes talking/singing to you.
Elaina M Roberts - Mar 07
I'm claustrophobic and really hate tight, closed in spaces. If I feel like I can't get free, I freak out. Even if it's a tight shirt that I'm wiggling out of, if it pins my arms, I'm hyperventilating thinking I'm going to be stuck forever. lol And yes, thank you for the opportunity to try a new author!
Keetra Smith - Mar 08
I hate a specific kind of bug, but I don't know it's name. When I was a little girl, we used to go out and sleep in a tent or just in a sleeping bag, and my mom kept telling me how this bug liked crawling into people's ears! I was terrified that one will end up in my ear, and everywhere I looked, I saw one! It still creeps me out!
Sabrina Lescure - Mar 19
Okay...I know this is childish and stupid but only one thing freaks me out : darkness. I assume it is because you don't see anything coming at you but...hey ? Does Phobia needs to be rational to be a phobia ? ^_^
Brandi York - Mar 07
Rodents. I can handle a mouse if I have to but when I was near Big Sir in California one time these enormous squirrels would come right up on your SHOES to take whatever people were feeding them. It completely freaked me out and I can't stand them near me anymore.

Edges I hate the escalator when you are too close to an edge and can look all the way down and easily could fall off
Amber Stuver - Mar 07
My #1 phobia is vomiting. A close second is intramuscular injections (I had a bad experience with an inoculation as a child).
Lisa Butz - Mar 07
Escalators terrify me, because I almost had a nasty accident on one as a child. My palms start to sweat just thinking about them. I avoid them and seek stairs or elevators.
Sheila Enos - Mar 07
Athazagoraphobia or the fear of being forgotton or ignored or forgetting things. I always feel the desire to remember and when i do not it is not fun.
Alicia Jespersen - Mar 07
I'm seriously afraid of spiders! If I see a spider I won't be able to move on Until it is dead, even then it needs to be wrapped in TP and flushed down the toilet. I have been known to cry from fright because said spider got away. Eeeeek! Just thinking about it is getting me worked up!!!!

Ronnie Buck - Mar 07
Worked for a Vet - there's afterbirth, laminitis, mange (aka Scabies in humans) ringworm, and various other conditions you probably rather not touch/see/smell etc.

I don't do well in small places or heights. I 'm not sure you'd call it a phobia.. .I have a very healthy respect for both. :)
Marie Childers - Mar 07
I hate spiders and most bugs, mostly because I have a fear of them crawling in my ears.
Rebekah Smith - Mar 07
I am deathly afraid of clowns. To the point that I will walk a very wide circle around them. Once I was wearing a top hat, sunglasses, all black, curly hair, etc and hid behind my friend like a small child. Apparently that was hilarious. I don't see the humor.
Carrie Penney - Mar 08
Clowns, I do not like clowns. They are creepy you know that under neat it all they are either some crazy killer or prev. And hospitals, especially hospital elevators.
Ana Ferreira - Mar 08
Turtles! Yes, my main phobia is turtles (Chelonaphobia to be more accurate), I can't be around them, I panic. People say it's weird, because they're adorable, but I always yell and hide every time I see one :( Now go ahead and laugh.
Amy Valentini - Mar 08
I soooo want to read this book!! Loved the first, gotta read the second. Snakes and fire are my two greatest fears. I get the shivers just thinking about a snake and the way it slithers and moves. I don't like the tongue, the hiss, the eyes and everyone always says they aren't slimy but ewwwwwwwwww! ICK!

Ok, so this may sound stupid, but I am terrified of mascots. I hate them, and when they come near me I freak out. One time I almost started crying when one at a Crunch game kept coming towards me even when I and some friends told him not to.
Jamie L Murphy Savoia - Mar 08
As a ff/paramedic there isn't much that grosses me out, except for spiders and repetitive hole patterns...they remind me of worm holes. I know, weird. Don't care for clowns...scary old men dressed in make-up...aka killers.
Diane Patricia Diamond - Mar 08
I have a terrible phobia about lizards. One was in my bathroom, one morning about 18 months ago. Nobody was there to catch it, so trying to be brave, I decided I had to do it myself. Well, as everybody knows, these are slippery little devils, and as I grabbed for it, the bathroom rug slipped out from under my feet and I slammed down onto the very hard tile. I was in terrible pain, but decided I was going to catch this evil little bugger. I hobbled around after it, and finally caught it. I then gave into the excruciating pain, and called 911. It turned out that I'd broken my hip (femur bone), and I ended up having to have surgery, and three pins to put me back together. Now, I leave those horrible little things alone, until my hubby is home to catch them for me. Thanks for this chance to win your book.

I have a phobia of pills. Well, it's medicine in general, but I have the hardest time with pills. Even the tiniest pills I have a hard time swallowing. Just thinking about having to swallow a pill larger than an aspirin makes me anxious.
Trisha Mortimore - Mar 08
I am terrified of spiders, actually anything that is small even microscopic. My hubby laughs at me because I will walk right up to a strange huge pit bull and pat it...lol.

I hate enclosed spaces. Even reading a book or watching a movie with a scene where someone is in a tunnel, underground, etc. really freaks me out. I'm ok as long as I can move my arms and legs, any tighter than that and I will freak out.
Miranda Hough - Mar 08
I absolutely hate throw up, its just not natural to have food come out instead of staying in and it always reeks! I cant stand to be near it or anyone throwing uo, I always end up throwing up!
Nita Gill - Mar 08

Pretty unoriginal fear here, Spiders. That's my greatest fear. I'm so bad I am almost constantly scanning the ceiling looking for the little eight legged demons. If one manages to surprise me I will let out the most girly squeak and refuse to walk past that spot for a solid hour—or more, depending on whether or not the vile creature met its death at the time of discovery.
Ann Craven - Mar 08
LOL That's evil! I'm in! I freak out over spiders and snakes! Nothing grosser than those two things. Maybe feet...

For someone that is a genuine wimp when it comes to most gory things, I am surprisingly able to get through all of Jeaniene's writing without being grossed out. On the other hand, I've never made it through any of her work without blushing. (I love that part though!)
Tanya Campbell - Mar 07
Maggots. Grossest creatures on the planet. During the last garbage strike i ran from the cans outside.......SHIVER!
Lori Allman - Mar 08
I am terrified of chickens! Weird thing to be afraid of I know. My best friends son likes to pick up his chickens and chase me around the yard with them! Good way to get this old girl movin' let me tell ya!!

I am extremely terrified of geese. Even when they are in cages they totally freak me out. When we go to the state fair I refuse to go down the row in the poultry barn that has the geese, of course my mom and sister think it is hilarious and always to to get me near one, not so funny to me. Being near them gives me the most horrible anxiety!
Timitra Cozier-Bobb - Mar 07
You definitely have me intrigued and very excited to find out all the gory details-thanks for the chance!
Ana Lucía Arroyave - Mar 08
Cockroaches because they are gross. In so many levels and so sneaky and fly whenever they want. Gaaahh freaks me out! Thank you for the giveaway :) @luarroyave
Tonya Aberle - Mar 07
Needles. And not just any needles but the kind that are jabbed into muscle. I know many are afraid of needles but as a nurse and with all the shots that are required one would think that a fear of needles would be ridiculous. But it isn't , at least to this nurse.
Lynn Highsmith - Mar 07
hair that is clogged in the drain and then you have to fish it out! Ugh!
Maybelline Smith - Mar 07
Frogs. They are slimy, ugly, and make horrible sounds. Also crickets, especially when they get on your skin or fly close to your ear.
Melissa Clark - Mar 07
I am seriously afraid of rubber bands being shot at me. I have rarely ever been hit by them but the thought of it freaks me out. I either want to run away or curl up in a ball and hope it misses. I get the hibby jibbys over it and it makes my skin crawl. My friends make fun of my fear because they say it is the silliest they've ever heard of.
Hilary Gaumer Hoffman - Mar 07
Arachnophobia, I can't stand those creepy little 8 legged ninjas! Once spotted, my skin crawls & I Eeekk, then I'll find anything I can (usually a glass) to set over the bugger to trap it, until someone better equipped to deal with creepy crawlers happens to upon it to crush, smash, kill or release it out in the wild!!

I know this is random but nothing grosses me more than hair the the shower drain!!! It really freaks me out! :-{ I can NOT deal with that, even though it is mine that is a big Heck NO!!! So the husband thinks it funny to clean it out and leave it on top of the trash can just for pure meanness!!!! Oh and mayonnaise!!! Yuck-O!!
