From the Diary of Leonie Noirot: The perfect corset should invite its undoing . . . Lethally charming Simon Blair, Marquess of Lisburne, has reluctantly returned to London for one reason only: a family obligation. Still, he might make time for the seduction of a certain redheaded dressmaker—but Leonie Noirot hasn't time for him. She's obsessed with transforming his cousin, the dowdy Lady Gladys, into a swan. Leonie's skills can coax curves—and profits—from thin air, but his criminally handsome lordship is too busy trying to seduce her to appreciate her genius. He badly needs to learn a lesson, and the wager she provokes ought to teach him, once and for all. A great plan, in theory—but Lisburne's become a serious distraction and Leonie's usual logic is in danger of slipping away as easily as a silk chemise. Could the Season's greatest transformation be her own?

Vixen in Velvet

Vixen in Velvet (The Dressmakers Book 3)   Loretta Chase writes about the third Noirot sister in Vixen in Velvet. Leonie is the business woman of the threesome but no less charming than her more creative siblings. Her head is not quite filled with numbers however. There is still room for thoughts of gods and goddesses like those in the Botticelli that figures in the plot not to mention the godlike Lord Lisburne.   He’s got his hands full protecting one poetry-spouting cousin from stampedes of sentimental young ladies. Still, he would be happy to spend some time with Leonie, if only she’d stop turning another cousin from ugly duckling to swan.   It is really encouraging to discover what the right clothing design can do.

Review of Vixen in Velvet by Loretta Chase

I have loved every book in this series.  The Dressmakers were not your ordinary Regency Heroines.  They had ambition, and a purpose to their lives.  They did not want to have a man who took care of them, they wanted to make something of themselves without depending on anyone, especially the male species.  Leonie is the business women of the trio.  She takes care of the none artistic aspects of the business.  In walks Simon, the Marquess of Lisbourne.  He sees her as a potential mistress and she sees him as a typical aristocrat with nothing better to do than seduce women.  She sets out to each him a lesson and in the process they both learn alot about each othe.  As always the dialouge is sparkling and witty as only Loretta can write it.  The love story is reveting and very well written.  I love all of her books...

Review: Vixen in Velvet by Loretta Chase

Rowena’s review of Vixen in Velvet (The Dressmakers #3) by Loretta Chase. From the Diary of Leonie Noirot: The perfect corset should invite its undoing . . . Lady Avon Interviews Loretta Chase about VIXEN IN VELVET

Vixen in Velvet, the third book in the Dressmakers series, came out this week, and author Loretta Chase was gracious enough to sit down for an interview with us! It’s been two years since the last book, Scandal Wears Satin. Why the gap? The problem was the protagonists and my trying to write a story before I really understood them. After telling two sisters’ stories, and knowing Leonie’s would conclude that story arc, I see in retrospect that I needed a longer time than usual to find my way. This happens sometimes. Every so often, a story will trip me up. The only solution is to throw it out and start over and do that as many times as necessary to get it right. What inspired you to write about a trio of dressmakers in Victorian England? Discovering 19th century women’s magazines online. There’s a wealth of fashion plates, with...

Vixen in Velvet, by Loretta Chase - Review

Information Title: Vixen in Velvet Author: Loretta Chase Publisher:  Avon Series: The Dressmakers Release Date: June 24, 2014 Reviewing: Advance e-copy Reason for reading: Received a copy from the publisher in exchange for a fair review. Also, I adore Loretta Chase. The Short Answer  Strongly recommend!  The characters are sharply drawn, with individual quirks, and the unfolding story is very much about the two of them finding their way to each other.  I especially love the way Lisburne's growing feelings are shown through his observations about Leonie. For example: Dressmakers always had sharp things about them -- scissors, needles, pins. He had an odd sensation of having wandered inadvertently into danger. And another one, just for fun: He was, however, distracted by the stormy picture Leonie Noirot made, in a maniacally feminine concoction of white muslin: the swoosh of the billowing sleeves and the way the overdress-- robe -- whatever...
